Caneel Bay, a Rosewood Resort in St John, USVI, is planning a new restaurant concept at the property, the hotel announced.

The plan is to transform the Sugar Mill restaurant into a new concept by ZoZo’s Ristorante, led by John Ferrigno, the owner of ZoZo’s, which has been located at Gallow’s Point Resort near Cruz Bay for 13 years.

The Sugar Mill is housed above the ruins of an 18th century sugar mill.

“John is a successful restaurateur within the St. John dining scene and his involvement with the Sugar Mill is the start of a new chapter for Caneel Bay,” said Nikolay Hotze, managing director at Caneel Bay. “He, along with Executive Chef Michael Fortino, will take the resort dining experience to a new level, as our guests will soon discover.”

The plan will include “major renovations” at the restaurant over the summer, with the aim of reopening the new restaurant when Caneel Bay reopens following its seasonal closure Nov. 1.
