Kim Collins may be getting up in age, but he’s still showing why he’s a national hero in St Kitts and Nevis.

Despite a fourth-place finish in Lausanne on Thursday, the 37-year-old Collins finished the men’s 100M in 9.97 seconds, a new national record for the twin-island federation.

America’s Tyson Gay took first place with a time of 9.79, while Jamaica’s Asafa Powell and Michael Rodgers finished second and third with times of 9.88 and 9.96, respectively. Powell’s and Rdogers’ times were both season bests.

It was the first time Collins broke 10 seconds in the 100M this year.

Colllins did not compete in last year’s London games after being expelled for disciplinary reasons.
