St Kitts and Nevis and Argentina have signed a technical cooperation agreement, the government announced.

The agreement was signed by St Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister Patrice Nisbett and non-resident Argentine Ambassador Ariel Fernandez.

It was the second visit in three weeks for the Jamaica-based Argentina diplomat, following the presentation of his credentials to Governor General Sir Edmund Lawrence in late May.

The two countries pledged to increase cooperation and identify a “broad framework” in which future collaboration can be realized.

The agreement covers knowledge transfer, provision of equipment and materials, capacity building and specialized personnel exchanges between the two countries, including the establishment of a Joint Commission which will meet periodically.

St Kitts’ government said more specific agreements in areas like sports, health, energy, culture, and agriculture would be negotiated going forward.

St Kitts and Nevis and Argentina have had relations since 1992.
