Diosdado Cabello Rondon, the president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, arrived in Havana Thursday for an official visit.

Rondon was received at Jose Marti International Airport by Cuba’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Rogelio Sierra, according to the country’s government newspaper.

The Venezuelan legislator will be holding talks with Cuban officials including Esteban Lazo, the president of Cuba’s National Assembly.

The visit comes a little over a month after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro traveled to Cuba following his victory in Venezuela’s national election.

Venezuela has been Cuba’s strongest ally in the Latin American and Caribbean region in recent years, a relationship that began under the late Hugo Chavez.
