Air carrier Seaborne Airlines has officially launched flights from San Juan to Martinique and Guadeloupe in the French West Indies.

The flights, which began on Saturday, operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays out of San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín airport.

“This is a very exciting development and we are pleased that Seaborne Airlines has taken over the San Juan – Fort-de-France route, allowing convenient connections with major US cities and the Caribbean,” said Karine Roy-Camille, Commissioner of the Martinique Tourism Authority.

The company has also brokered an interline agreement with American Airlines.

“This new route, thanks to the interline agreement with American Airlines, will also allow more possibilities for Martinique residents to travel to North America. Furthermore, getting to Martinique will be easier for visitors from Puerto Rico.”

American Airlines recently launched weekly service to Martinique and Guadeloupe as well.

Seaborne is using Saab 340 aircraft for the flights.
