The Bahamas and China have agreed on a new package of technical support totaling $8 million, the two countries announced this weekend.

Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie was in Trinidad to meet with China President Xi Jinping on his visit to the country, and the two leaders held talks.

Details of the funding were not released, although a government statement said they would be settled “in Nassau with the Chinese officials.”

New Providence is the site of the largest resort project in the Caribbean, the Baha Mar, which is being financed by China’s EXIM Bank and built by mostly Chinese labour.
