Haiti recently hosted a visit by anti-corruption expert Vincent Green, director of vendor integrity and investigations for the City University of New York.
Green’s visit included meetings with government officials, judicial officials and watchdog group members, among others, focusing on the implementation and evaluation of Haiti’s National Strategy for the Fight Against Corruption.
“The most important thing to understand is that corruption has not appeared overnight and will not disappear automatically,” he said. “This is an investment that requires time to bring results. The partnership with a free press and the support of the population are necessary for its success.”
Green is currently consulting with Haiti’s government on developing new strategies for fighting corruption.
Antoine Atouriste, director general of Haiti’s ULCC anti-corruption strategy, said Green would continue to work with Haiti on its anti-corruption efforts.
