Ethiopia President Girma Wolde-Giorgis met Sunday with Esteban Lazo, the president of Cuba’s National Assembly, in Addis Ababa.

Lazo is currently leading a Cuban delegation to ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity.

Lazo was named President of Cuba’s National Assembly in February.

The two sides discussed several issues including food security and defence matters.

Cuba has hosted a number of Ethiopian students over the years. Cuba’s government put that figure at nearly 3,500 students in areas like health and education.
