Haiti President Michel Martelly departed for Ecuador Thursday to attend the swearing-in of President Rafael Correa, who recently won re-election.

Martelly will also be visiting a group of 49 Haitian cadets currently studying at the Eloy Alfaro Military School in Ecuador.

Correa attended the Association of Caribbean States Summit in Haiti last month. He is beginning his third term in office.

Haiti and Ecuador have deepened their relationship since the 2010 earthquake, signing several cooperation agreements in areas like tourism and security.

Martelly will return to Haiti on Sunday.
