Guyana will be continuing its programme to distribute laptops to families in the country.

The programme, which has thus far distributed 28,000 laptops, will begin what the government called a “massive distribution exercise” in the Demerara/Mahaica region.

Over the next few weeks, that will mean roughly 6,000 laptops being distributed under the “One Laptop Per Family” programme.

On Tuesday, Guyana’s government sent teams to hand out approximately 1,500 laptops in the eastern portion of the country.

The laptops are being distributed with support from the government of China, which agreed to provide 30,000 laptops to the country last year.

Former Guyanese President Bharrat Jagdeo initiated the programme.
