Grenada’s Kirani James Wins 400M at Shanghai Diamond League Meet

Kirani James returned to the racing circuit Saturday with a victory in the 400M at the Shanghai Diamond League meet.

It was James’ first race since winning the 400M in 44.72 at the Chris Brown Invitational in Nassau last month.

James, who won Grenada’s first-ever gold medal in London last summer in the 400M, finished the Shanghai meet in 44.02, ahead of the United States’ Lashawn Merritt and the Dominican Republic’s Luguelin Santos.

Also Saturday, Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce won the women’s 100M in 10.93, ahead of Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare and the United States’ Carmelita Jeter.

Jamaica’s Warren Weir won the men’s 200M in 20.18, followed by US sprinter Justin Gatlin and fellow Jamaican Jason Young.
