Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe is in Cuba this week for an official visit to the country.

Lamothe arrived at Cuba’s Frank Pais Airport in Holguin on Tuesday evening.

During the trip, Lamothe will hold talks with Miguel Diaz-Canel, the first vice president of Cuba’s Council of State and Ministers, along with other meetings.

Diaz-Canel was recently in Haiti for the Association of Caribbean States Summit of Heads of State and Government last month.

Haiti President Michel Martelly visited Cuba in November 2012, during which time he signed a series of cooperation agreements with Cuba in areas like public health and agriculture.

One of them was a two-year agreement that is deploying 723 Cuban doctors to Haiti.
