Israel is interested in developing stronger ties with Trinidad and Tobago, according to the country’s Ambassador to the Caribbean, Amiram Magid.

The Israeli envoy recently held talks with a group of Trinidadian officials including Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Production, Jairam Seemungal.

The two sides discussed the possibility of making available training courses and scholarships offered by Israel’s government to Trinidad and Tobago nationals.

Seemungal also discussed the idea of a “short consultancy programme,” by which Israeli consultants would visit the Caribbean country to offer technical assistance in areas such as greenhouse cultivation and fish processing.

According to a release from Trinidad’s government, the talks also covered Trinidad’s “commitment to strengthening ties with Israel.”

Seemungal was joined by the Permanent Secretary, the Chief Technical Officer and a representative of Trinidad’s Agricultural Planning Division.
