CJ Pick: Lobster Alive in Barbados

By: - May 5th, 2013

IT MIGHT BE the ideal Caribbean restaurant: fresh lobster, live music and sand beneath your feet.

It all makes Lobster Alive in Barbados a CJ favourite.

The restaurant gets its lobster flown in (“alive”) by a private plane from Bequia Island in the Grenadines, where it’s caught, and finds its way into a plethora of dishes: exceptional lobster bisque, a classic lobster thermidor, lobster salad, lobster pasta and even a lobster crepe.

But the seafood-heavy menu is wide-ranging, offering delectable “conch samosas,” conch and calaloo chowder and pickled baby octopus, among other plates.

And every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday night, there’s live “Jazz at the Tank,” along with a Sunday “Swing Jazz” lunch.

To boot, the restaurant is located on Carlisle Bay, one of the country’s top beaches.
