Guyana will open the Hugo Chavez Centre for Rehabilitation and Reintegration on Friday, a facility that will provide refuge for some of the country’s homeless population.

The project, located on a 7.3-acre site at Onverwagt in West Coast Berbice was funded by $2 million from the government of Venezuela.

The centre will include a medical facility, mess hall and kitchen, along with a training room and conference centre.

It will provide training progammes aiming to reintegrate residents into society, subsequently giving them with transportation, treatment, toiletries, clothing, and meals, according to a government release.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jaua Milano will officially commission the facility during a visit to the country on Friday.
