Grenada has named former Foreign Minister Karl Hood as its Ambassador to China, the government announced this week.

Hood had served as the Foreign Minister under the former National Democratic Congress administration, until he left the government in a high-profile resignation, soon shifting his support to the now-ruling New National Party.

Hood’s appointment was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Elvin Nimrod during a post cabinet briefing.

He was one of several new envoys. including Clarice Charles, a former Education Minister named Ambassador to Cuba and former Ambassador to China Joslyn Whiteman will serve in the High Commission to London.

And Derrick James, who was removed as the country’s Consul General in New York in December 2012, has been named Grenada’s Honorary Consul General in New York.
