Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin met Friday in Washington with Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al-Rumaihi.

The discussions focused on reconstruction projects in Haiti and tourism investment in the country, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The meeting also included former Canadian Governor General Michaelle Jean, who is the current UNESCO Special Envoy in Haiti, and Rene Hubert of Canadian firm IBIDAA, which is developing several tourism projects in Haiti.

Al-Rumaihi reportedly urged Villedruoin to attend the upcoming DOHA Forum in May.

Villedrouin’s trip to Washington comes as Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe is currently on a visit to the United States as well.

The Ministry said the meeting last 2.5 hours.
