Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar held talks with Inter-American Development Bank Luis Alberto Moreno Wednesday in Washington.

The talks focused on “issues relating to Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean region,” according to a government statement.

The Washington-based bank has a portfolio of 30 operations totaling $4601. million USD in Trinidad and Tobago. Persad-Bissessar said that attested “to the Bank’s continuing support for the government’s development offers.”

The PM reportedly raised several issues of concern with Moreno, including what she said was a decline in the number of Caribbean nationals in senior management positions at the IDB and her country’s concern for the economic well-being of the region.

Persad-Bissessar’s US trip continues Thursday with the Americas-Africa Business Forum, which is covering “New Commercial Partnerships for Economic Growth.”
