Haiti and Delta Airlines held talks on Friday on the possibility of establishing a vacation package to Haiti including Delta’s Atlanta and New York flights, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin first revealed the idea in an interview with Caribbean Journal in February.

At the time, Villedrouin also mentioned Air France’s interest in putting together packages; Air France currently services Port-au-Prince as well.

While the development of Haiti’s tourism sector is very much in its early stages, it was buoyed at the beginning of 2013 with the launch of travel packages by Canada-based travel company Transat.

Villedrouin held the discussions with Richard Stack, regional district sales manager for the Caribbean at Delta and Cedric Chauvet, representative for Delta in Haiti.
