Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe has appointed new Finance and Communication Ministers in the wake of a pair of Cabinet resignations this week.

Wilson Laleau has been appointed Economy and Finance Minister, after previously serving as the Minister of Trade and Industry, filling the void left by the resignation of Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie.

Josette Darguste, Haiti’s Culture Minister, will hold the post of Minister of Communication, succeeding Regine Godefroy.

Both appointments represent additions to the Ministers’ current portfolios and are “until further notice.”

They were approved by President Michel Martelly, according to a statement from Lamothe’s office.

Darguste was named Culture Minister during a Cabinet reshuffle in January, following a tenure as the Director General of the Tourism Ministry.

The Prime Minister’s office said all other Ministers and Secretaries of State would remain in their current posts.
