Haiti Finance Minister Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie has tendered her resignation.

Jean-Marie had served as Haiti’s Minister of Economy and Finance since the summer of 2012, after Laurent Lamothe took over as the country’s Prime Minister.

A government source confirmed the resignation to Caribbean Journal Wednesday afternoon.

The news was first reported by Haiti’s Radio Vision 2000, on which it was reported that the decision came as the result of a disagreement with the President.

Haiti’s government, which is currently holding its Council of Ministers, has not yet publicly commented on the move.
