Former Cayman Islands Premier McKeeva Bush presented himself to anti-corruption officers Tuesday morning and has been released on bail, according to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
Bush was formally charged with corruption in March on nine counts including four for Breach of Trust by a member of the Legislative Assembly, five counts of theft and two counts of misconduct in a public office.
Part of the charges involve the alleged importation of explosive substances without valid permits.
Bush, who was first arrested on suspicion of corruption in December, has denied any wrongdoing. He was succeeded by current Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly in December.
Bush, who was released on bail along with another unnamed man, will appear in Cayman’s Grand Court April 12.
In a statement, the police service said the investigation was “ongoing.”
“An update will be provided as and when appropriate,” the police said.
