Bahamas Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell recently traveled to the United Arab Emirates on an official visit.

Mitchell met on the trip with United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

According to a government statement, the two sides discussed “topics of mutual interest,” as well as ways of enhancing bilateral ties.

The Bahamas and the United Arab Emirates first established diplomatic relations in the spring of 2011.

The Caribbean and the Middle East have been increasing their engagement over the past few years.

Most notably, St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas led a high-profile investment delegation last year to the UAE, where it was announced that a Dubai investor would be building a Park Hyatt hotel in the country.
