A 4.0-magnitude earthquake off the northern coast of Venezuela on Sunday morning caused light shaking in Trinidad, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake occurred about 29 kilometres north-northeast of Gueiria in Venezuela, and about 70 kilometres west-north-west of Port of Spain.

It occurred at 7:16 AM local time at a depth of 103 kilometres.

The reports of weak to light shaking were focused on Trinidad’s western coast.

The quake comes a week after a 4.8-magnitude trembler off the northeastern coast of Tobago.
