Paraguay and St Kitts and Nevis have established formal diplomatic relations, the government of St Kitts and Nevis announced Wednesday.
The relevant documents were signed last week by Paraguay’s Ambassador to the OAS, Martin Sannemann and St Kitts and Nevis’ OAS Ambassador, Jacinth Henry-Martin.
Henry-Martin said the two countries could soon collaborate in areas including language instruction, information and technology exchange and tourism, among others.
Sannemann reportedly expressed interest in visiting the twin-island federation along with a government delegation.
Elvis Newton, permanent secretary in St Kitts’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a government release that the move was part of the country’s efforts to form “strategic partnerships with countries in order to promote mutual interests in the international arena.”
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Kemoy Liburd Chow, Counsellor and Alternate Representative of St Kitts and Nevis to the OAS, and Second Secretary Luis Carlos Escobar, Alternate OAS Representative of Paraguay.
