Earthquake Northeast of Tobago

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred southeast of Grenada on Sunday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake occurred at about 1:28 PM local time.

A preliminary reading from the Seismic Research Institute at the University of the West Indies put the magnitude at 4.9 on the Richter scale.

The quake occurred about 81 kilometres northeast of Roxborough in Tobago, 149 kilometres south-southwest of Bridgetown.

There were reports of weak shaking in St George’s Grenada this afternoon, according to the USGS, although there were not yet any reports of shaking in Tobago.
