Former Cayman Islands Premier McKeeva Bush, who was arrested in connection with corruption allegations in December 2012, returned for further police interviews on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
Bush, along with an unnamed man who was also arrested in 2012, complied with the terms of their bail and presented themselves to police on Tuesday.
Officers of the Financial Crime Unit conducted additional interviews with Bush, and “collated additional relevant evidence.”
“In line with normal procedures, the details from those interviews have been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions,” the service said. “This is to allow her to consider the latest information along with the previously submitted evidence file.”
Bush was placed on overnight bail on Tuesday and is set to present himself to officers again Wednesday afternoon.
The re-bailing is aimed at giving police “an opportunity to consider all of the evidence currently available and thereafter advise the RCIPS of her decision as to whether charges can be laid.”
The second man arrested has been re-bailed until early April.
Bush stepped down in December, replaced by current Premier Julia O’Connor-Connolly.
