Trinidad Energy Ministry, International Monetary Fund Hold Talks

Trinidad and Tobago Energy Minister Sen. Kevin Ramnarine held discussions Monday with officials from the International Monetary Fund as part of the organization’s Article IV Consultation.
The aim of the meeting was to inform the IMF of recent developments in Trinidad’s energy sector, including the 2012 deepwater bid round, changes in fiscal incentives and Liquefied Natural Gas export markets, according to a statement from the Energy Ministry.
The IMF was also reportedly interested in future projections for the Energy Sector, emphasizing Trinidad’s upcoming deepwater and land-based bid rounds.
The meeting was attended by senior energy officials including Permanent Secretary Vishnu Dhanpaul, Permanent Secretary Selwyn Lashley and Chief Technical Officer Richard Jeremie.
The IMF delegation included Head of Mission Elie Canetti, Kevin Finch, Mario Mansilla, Joel Okwuokei and Qiaoe Chen.
The team from the IMF will continue its consultation with other ministries this week.
