Grenada Prime Minister Tillman Thomas hosted a delegation from Morocco this week for talks in St George’s.
The delegation, which also visited St Lucia during its Caribbean tour, was led by Ambassador Nasser Bourita, Secretary General of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
The two sides reportedly agreed to engage in “regular discussions” on common issues, according to a communique from Thomas’ office.
The discussions focused on areas of “mutual interest,” including energy, food security, governance, the environment and climate change.
Through 2015, Morocco and Grenada will work together in areas such as education, tourism, agriculture, health and fisheries.
Morocco announced it would be providing up to 20 scholarships for students from Grenada for working visits and workshops.
The first of these visits is set to take place in June.
The country will additionally provide two to three scholarships each year at hospitality and tourism training institutions.
Morocco will also be lending Grenada its expertise in crop production, animal health and livestock, along with the provision of 180 tonnes of fertilizers every year.
