Haiti has approved 2,224 bed-and-breakfast rooms to be used for guests visiting Cap-Haitien for carnival next week, the country’s Ministry of Tourism said Friday.

The rooms were identified by the Northern Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism to have met certain quality criteria, it said.

Haiti will hold its National Carnival in the northern city of Cap-Haitien from Feb. 10 to Feb. 12.

The office said it had opened a registration list of private homes to accommodate Haitian and foreign visitors coming to experience the three-day fete in the city.

A cruise ship docked in Cap-Haitien Harbour, the MV Adriana, also has 130 cabins available, the Ministry said.

Haiti’s National Carnival regularly brings guests from across much of Haiti and the Diaspora.

It recently completed a 10-day training session to improve the quality of service in Cap-Haitien. Some of those trainees included owners of bed-and-breakfasts and private homes.
