Taiwan Foreign Minister David Yung-Lo is continuing his Caribbean tour with a trip to Haiti.

The country’s top diplomat, joined by a Taiwanese delegation, met Wednesday with Haiti President Michel Martelly in Port-au-Prince.

His visit to the country follows trips to St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia and St Kitts and Nevis.

Yung-Lo is on a two-day visit to Haiti.

His tour follows a visit to Haiti by Taiwan’s Vice President, Wu Den-Yih, in August 2012.

A number of Haitians are currently studying at universities in Taiwan, which has said it is committed to furthering reconstruction in the country, particularly Haiti’s energy sector.
