Jamaica Governor General Sir Patrick Allen has appointed Dirk Harrison as the country’s new Contractor General, King’s House announced in a statement.

Harrison’s appointment will be effective March 1.

He currently serves as Deputy Director of Public Prosecution; he will fill the vacancy created when the tenure of former Contractor General Greg Christie ended Dec. 1.

Craig Beresford had served as Acting Contractor General since Dec. 1.

The OCG was in the news earlier this month when it referred Jamaica’s Cabinet for criminal prosecution, citing a failure to comply with statutory requisitions dealing with several major investment projects.
