Haiti President Michel Martelly met with Organization of American States Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza this week ahead of the CELAC-EU summit in Santiago, Chile.

The talks between Martelly and Insulza focused on current regional issues and the situation in Haiti.

Haiti’s Martelly is currently the Chairman of CARICOM’s Conference of Heads of Government.

The two sides also discussed the prospects for the upcoming CELAC meeting, which will be held following the EU-CELAC Summit this weekend.

Martelly, who departed Haiti on Tuesday, said this week he would discuss at the summit a national plan to make Haiti 70 percent self-sufficient in the agriculture sector.
