A group of 30 students in Haiti departed for Ecuador Monday for a series of training programmes in that country, according to Haiti’s National Palace.

The students will receive training in fields including construction, carpentry, masonry and the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, under an agreement signed in 2012 between Haiti and Ecuador.

They are the latest students from Haiti to travel to Ecuador for training programmes. In October 2012, a group of eight Haitian students selected by Haiti’s Ministry of Defence left for four-year military training programmes in Ecuador.

Haiti and Ecuador signed a number of cooperation agreements in 2012, including one on tourism cooperation.
