Jamaica-based Couples Resorts is in “firm negotiations” concerning the purchase of the 280-room Almond Casuarina Beach Resort in Barbados, Couples CEO Glenn Lawrence and Casuarina Chairman Anthony King said in a release.
The negotiations are expected to conclude on or before Jan. 31, at which time more detailed statement will be issued, the two companies said.
Operations at Almond Casuarina will continue normally during the negotiations, the company said, and all forward bookings will be honoured up to May 31.
After that, Couples said it was intended that the resort would be re-branded under the Couples Resorts brand umbrella.
Couples Resorts currently owns and operates four properties in Jamaica, including the Couples Tower Isle, Couples San Souci, Couples Swept Away and Couples Negril.
