Trinidad and Tobago has received a $149.6 million concessional loan from China to build the Children’s Hospital in Preysal.

The hospital will reportedly be outfitted with “state-of-the-art medical equipments for diagnosis and treatment.”

It will be a “priority healthcare facility,” according to Acting Foreign Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal.

“We are hopeful that it will also attract patients from the wider Caribbean and the Latin American region,” he said. “It is also expected to be an integral part of this government’s ‘Hospital Physical Infrastructure Development Strategy.'”

Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad Yang Youming said he hoped the loan would help improve the country’s healthcare system.
