Grenada and China have signed a $4.8 million economic and technical cooperation agreement, the office of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas announced Thursday.

The agreement was signed by Grenada Finance Minister Nazim Burke and China’s Ambassador to Grenada, Xu Jianguo.

“On behalf of the government, I wish to place on record our profound gratitude to the government and people of the People’s Republic of China for its continued financial support in assisting us to meet the needs of our people,” Burke said in a statement.

The grant will go toward projects “agreed upon by the two governments,” according to the government’s release.

The agreement, for what amounts to the equivalent of $30 million Yuan, was for an amount identical to an economic agreement signed by China and Guyana last week.
