Guyana and China have signed an agreement on economic and technical cooperation that will provide up to $4.8 million in support from China.

The deal follows a similar agreement also valued at $4.8 million in March.

The agreement, which was signed by Guyana Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh and Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Zhang Limin, will cover the implementation of “bilateral co-operation projects to be agreed upon by the two governments,” Guyana’s government said in a release.

Earlier this year, China and Guyana signed a $130 million concessional loan agreement to support the construction of a new terminal building and other facilities at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
