Dominica’s police force will soon be getting help from China, which has announced the donation of 90 motorcycles to the force.

The motorcycles were handed over at a signing ceremony at the Ministry of Finance Thursday.

“These motorcycles will be deployed to the various police stations so as to increase the mobility,” said National Security Minister Charles Savarin. “As you know, a couple years ago, we took the step of providing a vehicle to each police station and each police unit, so this will compliment the mobility of the police and enable them to provide a greater service to the people of Dominica.”

Of the 90 motorcycle,s 40 will have sidecars; 50 will be standalone bikes.

“The relationship between the People’s Republic of China and the Commonwealth of Dominica has been growing from strength to strength,” Savarin said. “There is clear evidence in Dominica of the tremendous support that we received from the People’s Republic of China and our own commitment to the PRC cannot be questioned.”
