The Caribbean hotel sector is continuing to improve, according to a new report from hotel data firm STR.

Caribbean hotel occupancy rose 7 percent in November, compared to the same period in 2011, according to the report, which covered a total of 1,884 properties and 222,382 total rooms in the Caribbean for the month.

Occupancy in November stood at 65.7 percent, up from 61.4 percent in November 2011 and 54.7 percent from last month.

The average daily rate in the region rose 3.3 percent to $151 per night, up from $146.18 in November 2011.

RevPAR, or revenue per available room, rose 10.5 percent to $99.14, up from $89.72 in November 2011.

In the same period, total revenue in the region reached $661.4 million, a 9.7 percent increase.

Last month’s numbers followed similar improvement for the regional sector in October, when the numbers similarly improved across the board.
