Trinidad and Tobago’s latest push to reel in visitors to the country involves a push to highlight the country’s sport fishing niche.
And the twin-island state’s season is now in full swing, lasting until June, with with year-round availability of tarpon, tuna and salmon.
Large marlin is most prevalent from February through April, while seasonal catches also include sailfish, kingfish, pompano, mackerel and wahoo.
“The waters of Trinidad and Tobago offer anglers some of the best fishing in the Caribbean,” said Andrew Lkanos of the Tobago International Game Fishing Tournament.
Popular fishing sites in Tobago include Plymouth, Pigeon Point and Crown Point.
