The Ritz-Carlton Reserve Dorado Beach is now open in Puerto Rico, the company announced Thursday.

The property, which is situated on 1,400 acres on the former Laurence Rockefeller estate, features 100 guestrooms and 14 one-bedrooms suites.

“As a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the philosophy behind Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is to immerse guests into Puerto Rico’s rich history and extraordinary landscape while providing an unparalleled luxury travel experience unlike any other,” said Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company President and COO Herve Humler in a release. “Reflective of Laurance Rockefeller’s vision from more than 50 years ago of a natural sanctuary, the island is a combination of historical charm and metropolitan life blending serenity and a pristine backdrop – a perfect location for the Ritz-Carlton Reserve experience.”

The property’s Su Casa, originally built in the 1920s for Clara Livingston, the first owner of the land, is now a four-bedroom villa overlooking the ocean with its own private infinity pool.

Leading the culinary options will be Mi Casa by world-renowned Spanish chef Jose Andres (for more on his philosophy, click here). Other dining venues include Positivo Sand Bar, Encanto Beach Club Bar & Grill and La Cocina Gourmet.

The resort also features Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment programme.
