Elegant Hotels Group in Barbados has named Australian national Mark Campbell its new Chief Executive Officer, the company announced.

Campbell has more than 20 years in the hospitality and travel sector, including 12 years at P&O Australian resorts, where he served as managing director of the company, which managed a range of resorts including Bedarra and Cradle Mountain Lodge.

He was most recently the managing director of Contiki Resorts, which operates resorts in Australia, Indonesia and Greece, and AOT Holidays, Australia and New Zealand’s largest independent travel wholesaler.

Campbell will be responsible for the overall management and performance of Elegant Hotels’ portfolio, which includes five hotels along Barbados’ west and south coasts: Colony Club, Tamarind, the all-inclusive Turtle Beach and Crystal Cove and adults-only retreat The House, along with Daphne’s the sister restaurant to its London counterpart.

In October, Elegant relaunched The House following a redesign of its 34 suites at one of the top Barbados hotels.

Campbell’s appointment follows the departure of Howard Freidman, who had served for four years as CEO.

“I am extremely privileged to take over the baton from Howard and will bring a fresh perspective to the guest experience in all our hotels and how we provide a unique Barbados experience to each guest,” Campbell said.
