The St Kitts Tourism Authority has appointed Carolyn James as its new Acting CEO, it announced Wednesday.

The appointment of James, the Director of the St Kitts Tourism Authority’s office in Canada, was effective beginning Nov. 23.

“Mrs. James is well-suited to lead the St. Kitts Tourism Authority at this time, as we intensify our efforts to grow the St Kitts brand and drive more targeted business to our destination,” said Alfonso O’Garro, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the St Kitts Tourism Authority. “As we hone our focus on the highly-competitive demands of the marketplace as well as the needs of our tourism stakeholders and local people, her in-depth understanding of our island’s tourism product will be invaluable, and we are pleased to welcome her home to her new role as Acting CEO.”

James’ work most recently included the creation and implementation of a new Destination Specialist Programme for travel agents in North America that provides online training and booking incentives.

She also headed talks last year for the introduction of seasonal weekly non-stop service to St Kitts by Air Canada through a new relationship with Air Canada Vacations.

James has relocated to the home office in St Kitts, while maintaining her role and responsibilities as the director of the St Kitts Tourism Authority for Canada.
