Thanks to a partnership with animation company Toon Boom Animation, Grenada’s St George’s University will soon be adding a course in computer animation.

The company produces digital content and animation creation software.

The programme is a partnership between St George’s and Toon Boom, whose client base includes major Hollywood studios including Disney, Warner Brothers and Fox, among others.

It won a Primetime Emmy Engineering Award in 2005 for its contribution to the animation industry.

Lilly Volgelesang, product manager with Toon Boom Animation, said the Caribbean was a relatively new market for the company and was excited at what partnerships could be created.

She said the initiative was aimed at “preparing student for the market place so that they can be stronger individuals, when working in the real environment.”

Toon Boom will be offering a course in certification, at associate, professional and master levels in the university.
