Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina has created a presidential commission to reform the country’s National Police.

The move was conducted by presidential decree on Sunday. The primary purpose of the commission will be to formulate policy initiatives, regulations and “comprehensive administrative reform,” the government said.

It will also recommend regulations and administrative laws to contribute to the “transformation of the police,” according to the government.

The Commission will be chaired by Gustavo Montalvo, the Minister of the Presidency, and will include the Minister of the Interior and Police.

The commission will also evaluate the results of regulations and laws that are implemented.
