Dominica: 4.6-Magnitude Earthquake Off Country’s Eastern Coast

A 4.6-magnitude earthquake occurred Friday off the eastern coast of Dominica, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The epicentre of the quake was about 24 kilometres east of La Plaine, and about 26 kilometres east-southeast of Rosalie, and about 27 kilometres east-southeast of Roseau.

That was about 63 kilometres north of La Trinite in Martinique. There were reports of some weak shaking in Martinique.

It took place at around 2:54 PM Friday afternoon, at a depth of about 134 kilometres.

The country’s Office of Disaster Management told Caribbean Journal there were not yet any reports of shaking or damage.
