A team of representatives from the CARICOM Secretariat are visiting several Member States to examine their current position regarding statistics on the environment.

The team from CARICOM’s Regional Statistics Programme is currently in Antigua after leaving Dominica on Thursday after a two-day visit.

On Monday, the group will be visiting Jamaica.

The mission is targeting National Statistical Offices, MEA focal points, ministries and environment departments and agencies engaged in the production and use of environment statistics in areas like forestry and coastal and marine resources.

The aim of the exercise is to “strengthen inter-agency coordination to fill any gaps in environment statistics in the area of biodiversity.”

The team will also look at the environment statistics produced by Member States.
