A 73-member delegation of officials from Martinique will head to Barbados next week in an effort to learn more about the country’s agriculture and agro-processing sector.

The group, which is comprised of farmers, processors, teachers, researchers and lawmakers, will visit Barbados’ Ministry of Agriculture along with local farms and markets.

Each year, the Martinique delegation visits a Caribbean island to learn about new agricultural technologies and explore the potential for trade with its Caribbean neighbours.

The trip will include tours to the Sugar Cane Breeding Station at Groves, St George, the Barbados Agricultural Development Marketing Corporation’s Cassava Project and the Sustainable Barbados Recycling Centre in St Thomas, among other destinations.
