Haiti President Michel Martelly is sending congratulations to US President Barack Obama on his re-election Tuesday night.
Obama won an extremely tight race over challenger Mitt Romney, a longtime businessman and former governor of the state of Massachusetts.
Martelly said he expressed his “best wishes” to Obama to reassume his role.
He said Haiti was committed to maintaining and strengthening the “cordial relations which have always characterized the history” of Haiti and the United States.
Martelly said he hoped that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries would continue and strengthen “in the interest of both countries.”
